Final Fridays at the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities

FInalFridaysFbPost (2)This week we launch Final Fridays, a new series at the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities. On the last Friday of each month, we’ll open the Center’s doors in Tyrrell Hall and feature a special event that highlights the arts and humanities here on TU’s campus. We’ll serve refreshments while encouraging the community to joins us for art, music, and conversation.

We’ll kick things off by opening an exhibition in our new gallery called “The Humor of Humans.” Curated by John Clanton, Photo Editor at the Tulsa World, the show features funny photographs drawn from the paper’s archives. You’ll see all kinds of humor, ranging from cleverly staged shots to quirky slices of life from the city. On Friday, Clanton will talk about the different photographs on display and explore the importance of visual storytelling as it unfolds on the pages of the daily paper.

The Oklahoma Center for the Humanities at TU will feature two additional Final Friday events this fall:

  • September 25, the TU School of Music will present a special lunchtime jazz performance.
  • October 30, the day before Halloween, the Creative Writing Program will offer dramatic readings of new and more familiar poems designed to scare up a crowd.

Please joint us for “The Humor of Humans” this Friday, August 28th from noon to 1pm in the Ellen G. Adelson Auditorium of Tyrrell Hall, right at the heart of TU’s campus. All Final Friday events are free and open to everyone.
