The University of Tulsa is excited to announce the return of Bloomsday!
After a three year hiatus, the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities is partnering with Magic City Books, Tulsa Irish Fest and the Consulate General of Ireland to bring back the annual celebration of James Joyce’s 1922 novel Ulysses. Every year on June 16, Joyce enthusiasts celebrate the book, which notably begins at 8 a.m. on June 16, 1904 and continues through the following morning.
This year, the festivities will take place at TU’s 101 Archer in the heart of the Tulsa Arts District. Join us for a special Father’s Day brunch in our garden. For $50 a person, you can dine with James Joyce’s death mask at an all-you-can-eat Irish brunch with Guinness, Bloody Marys and mimosas. Local band Cairde na Gael will play throughout the event and we’ll have a few dramatic readings from Ulysses by local actors. Attendees will also have the chance to explore our new exhibit, “James Joyce: A Global Odyssey” which takes a look at the author’s legacy and TU’s relationship with the Joyce estate. The exhibit contains contributions from the the Consulate General of Ireland, Special Collections at McFarlin Library, and the James Joyce Quarterly.
Brunch will begin at 11 a.m. at 101 E. Archer St., Tulsa, OK 74103.
